The Federal Protective Service (FPS)—within U.S. Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)—is responsible for protecting federal government property, personnel, visitors, and customers, including property leased by the General Services Administration (GSA). At this Tier Level USNIA security guards will provide FPS security guard services based upon the awarded contract security guard requirements such as federal building access control, employee and visitor identification checks, security equipment monitoring, and roving patrols of the interior and exterior of federal property.
FPS utilizes contract security guard personnel. FPS is the premier provider of security and law enforcement services at U.S. federal government facilities, thus USNIA Security Guards must be highly trained and multi-disciplined. FPS requires security guard contractors are qualified by undergoing background checks, background investigations (to obtain top secret security level), must possess required licenses, certifications, and permits, and are also required to undergo training and pass an FPS-administered written examination.
The Tier 4 64-hour training course will provide students with the required training to successfully pass the FPS written exam and include but are not limited to the following topics:
- USNIA basic security guard refresher training;
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training and certification;
- Domestic Violence Prevention Certification;
- Firearms training and firearms qualification;
- First Aid Certification;
- Written exam;
- Expandable baton certification; and
- Use of magnetometers and X-ray machine.
USNIA training program courses will assist students in outlining a plan for completing the program and achieving career goals. This training is a personal investment into your security career. Just as a degree or certification for any job, having a handgun permit will place you into a higher level. Completion of this training by NO means a guarantee of employment with our Agency.
